With Grey, I did the whole balloons in a box deal for my parents and husband. Partially because it was the new, fun thing to do and also because everyone was working and no one could go with me to my 20-week ultrasound, which meant I alone knew the gender. Seeing the joy and excitement on their faces when my husband opened the box and the blue balloons came flying out was all I needed to get over the disappointment of being alone in the OB office, earlier that day.
This time around, I’ve been able to have my husband with me at every prenatal appointment and ultrasound. It was a completely different and very special experience to find out the gender together (I mean, I almost shed a tear, but we know I don’t cry). In general, I’m not huge on being the center of attention and so a big gender reveal party is not really my cup of tea, instead I decided to do a simple photo of the ultrasound with a corresponding outfit and text it to the family before putting it on social media.
It’s a girl!
